Belgrade, 21–22 November

The Endurance Academy, held on 21 and 22 November at the Athletic Hall in Belgrade, brought together some of the world’s most respected elite running coaches. More than 60 participants from over 30 countries took part in this high-level professional gathering, exchanging practical knowledge, scientific insights, and long-term coaching experience in endurance sports.

A Unique Exchange of Expertise in Endurance Training

Over two days, coaches had the opportunity to discuss a variety of topics crucial for improving athletic performance — from training methodology, recovery strategies, and physiological monitoring, to nutrition, supplementation, and anti-doping risks.

The atmosphere was strongly collaborative, reflecting a shared mission to elevate the standards of endurance coaching globally. Many participants highlighted the value of integrating scientific evidence into everyday coaching practice.

Nutrition, Supplementation, and Athlete Safety

One of the sessions was delivered by Prof. Dr. Marija Andjelković, who spoke about optimal nutrition and the responsible use of supplements in elite sport.

During her lecture, Prof. Andjelković emphasized the importance of structured framework that helps athletes and coaches make informed decisions about supplements. She also highlighted the potential dangers linked to contaminated or inadequately evaluated supplements, reminding participants that up to 15% of dietary supplements globally may contain undeclared substances that can lead to unintentional doping violations.

Her message was clear: education is the athlete’s strongest protection.

AntiDop Project — A Model for the Future

In this context, significant interest was directed at the AntiDop project, developed in cooperation with expert teams dedicated to athlete safety, ethical sport, and anti-doping education.

The project was presented as an innovative educational platform that aims to:

  • increase awareness among athletes, coaches, and support personnel
  • reduce the risk of inadvertent doping
  • provide practical tools for everyday decision-making
  • promote a culture of clean and safe sport
  • strengthen communication between experts, teams, and sports organizations

Participants responded with genuine curiosity, recognizing AntiDop as a much-needed resource, especially for endurance sports where supplement use is widespread and often misunderstood.

Many coaches expressed readiness to integrate AntiDop materials and tools into their daily work once the platform becomes active.
